For over 12 years, the Inglewood Chapter of Jack & Jill of America, Inc., has celebrated the Christmas Season with our signature community service event, “Spirit of Giving”, Breakfast every December. The chapter enjoys a southern faire breakfast/brunch of ham, biscuits, grits and all the trimmings prepared by dads from the chapter’s Father’s Auxiliary. Children from each group also perform Christmas pageantry through choir, song, solos, instrumental solos, dance, poetry and dramatic scene.
The highlight of the morning is of course the “giving” to our community partners. To date, the chapter has donated over 1000 baskets of toiletries and personal hygiene items to the Midnight Mission of Los Angeles for the benefit of both the Inglewood Family Housing Program and Midnight Mission of Greater Los Angeles serving the homeless population in downtown Los Angeles skid row.
In past years, the children have also presented warm coats and blankets and also spearheaded “Cradle to College” book and school supplies drive also benefitting families of Midnight Mission, Inglewood. It is during this time that the chapter also presents monetary donations raised from annual chapter fundraisers to community partner(s) Midnight Mission, Inglewood Family Housing Program and Great Beginnings for Black Babies.
