Black Family Day is celebrated on the first weekend of every May, every program year. The chapter customarily hosts outdoor cookouts, volleyball tournaments, sandcastle contests, ice cream socials and line dancing on Black Family Day. However, other events have included visits to black history lectures at the California African American Museum and; tours to Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park, one of California’s earliest all-black communities established at the turn of the 19th century in Tulare County and now operating as a state historical landmark to African American resilience in the Golden State.
